Barb’s Bird Paradise and Aviaries wishes you all a Happy Thanksgiving!

A Thanksgiving Day at Barb’s Bird Paradise and Aviaries

Barb’s Bird Paradise and Aviaries wishes you all a Happy Thanksgiving!
Today, as the sun rises soft and golden over the aviaries, I’m reminded how much I have to be grateful for—God’s goodness, the gift of nature, the companionship of animals, and the joy of watching a bird learn what it was created to do… fly.

This Thanksgiving morning, the aviary is alive with excitement.
And right in the center of it all is Dayna, my beautiful Ducorps cockatoo.

Dayna stretches her snowy white wings, lifts her little crest, and gives a cheerful “good morning” squawk. With the cool Thanksgiving breeze beneath her, she launches into the air—soaring up, gliding down, and practicing the graceful flight she has worked so hard to master.

I call out to her, smiling,
“Look at you, Dayna! Flying free, flying safe, flying with joy.”

She circles high above me, then swoops gently down to my arm, landing with soft feet and shining eyes. The other birds watch her with admiration—her courage, her beauty, her spirit lighting up the entire aviary. Even the horses in the pasture pause, ears perked, as her wings flash bright in the sun.

I rest my hand on her soft feathers and whisper a prayer of thanks:
“Thank You, Lord, for wings, for safety, for love, and for these precious creatures You’ve trusted me with.”

The autumn wind stirs the trees around us, almost as if whispering “Amen.”

Dayna snuggles close, her feathers puffed in happiness. Together we take in the quiet beauty of Thanksgiving morning—grateful for breath, grateful for purpose, grateful for every blessed moment.

Because here at Barb’s Bird Paradise and Aviaries, every day feels like Thanksgiving when a bird learns to fly with confidence, courage, and joy in a safe and loving place.
